Can you paste the full error message please and if possible make a small Genbox GEDCOM that shows the issue?
Previous discussions about Genbox:
What settings did you use in Genbox for exporting the GEDCOM can you provide a screenshot(s) so we can recreate this?
Here is the error message:
could not open fileC;\users\sobec\nedrive\Gedcom

(Attachment Labudz_Szkuta.GDB is missing)

It appears that you are trying to import the wrong file. A file ending in .GDB would be the native file format for Genbox… purportedly using the Microsoft Access database backend.
The exported GEDCOM file will have a .ged or .GED file extension. And is will be located wherever you chose during the export operation.
The Perplexity ai reports that the GEDCOM export dialects for Genbox are:
Unfortunately the Genbox Family History software stores the data as Genbox.GDB. I am not sure what format this program uses. It hasn’t been updated for many years, hence my wish to import into Gramps
Unfortunately the Genbox Family history stores the files as gedcom.GDB but what format is used is the question
When I attempt to import into Gramps it obviously doesn’t recognise the correct format
The other process to try is to convert to another format recognisable by Gramps
Genbox has export (format convert) options.
Their GEDCOM 5.5 (UTF-8 encoding) export is the closest to the GEDCOM 5.5.1 standard. GEDCOM 5.5.1 has been the typical Genealogical data exchange format since a draft was published in October of 1999. And GEDCOM 5.5.1 import is supported by Gramps.
The UTF-8 encoding means that it supports letters beyond the ANSI American standard… like ç, ü, æ, ê and non-Latin alphabets.
Great will give it a go
For future reference, the Discourse forum’s AI found it very concerning that a newly registered user tried to post an attachment, hotlinks to an external domain and several postings by eMail. That raised multiple SPAMming red flags.
This resulted in your thread being quarantined briefly.
I apologise, I was requested to upload a file
There was no blame intended.
Just wanted you to know because there were delays and your thread disappeared into quarantine.
So this was just so you knew how weirdness happened … and that it was not anything personal.
It may be possible to open the .GDB file using Excel or Access. The .GDB extension is also not whitelisted for this forum, hence the upload problem.
