(Linux Mint, Gramps 6.0.1) Good afternoon, all. I am trying to import a Genopro exported GEDCOM file into Gramps, and it fails with many errors.
I get a popup windows saying:
www.genopro.com
GEDCOM FORM not supported Line 11: 2 FORM LINAGE-LINKED
Unknown tag Line 12: 0 GLOBAL
Skipped subordinate line Line 13: 1 NAME
<lots of these>
Line ignored as not understood Line 446: 2 GENOMAP Main<lots of these as well>
Error: family 'F0352' (input as @F6@) person I0388 (input as I14) is not a member of the referenced family. Family reference removed from person
<finally lots of these>
It has links to some old (2011) discussions on the old mailing lists.
There was no specific mention of a GLOBAL subtype of the FORM LINAGE-LINKED tag. However, it was noted that the quality of GEDCOM from GenoPro was very poor. And that the package was focused more on drawing diagrams than recording genealogical information. (Again, this was in 2011. Things might have changed.)
From wikipedia
File Format
GenoPro uses XML as its core file format, and its file extension.zip is a zipped-XML file. The user may rename the file extension .gno to .zip for editing the content of the genealogy document with a text editor. GenoPro can also import and export data in the GEDCOM format. It is important to realize that the GenoPro GEDCOM import cannot be relied upon to accurately transfer data from other genealogy programs.[12]
Could you share more of the header?
As for the not a member of the referenced Family I suspect that this is more scary than a real problem. GEDCOM has things redundantly linked - forwards and backwards. Their GEDCOM export may have been an incorrect implementation of that. Best to check a sample family in GenoPro and after import. See if the linkage for that I14 Person was actually lost from that F0352 Family.
