Gedcom [Pro-Gen] import iOS

hello, i am using iMac iOS 13 Ventura, and I am a new user of Gramps 5.1.5.
i want to import a Gedcom-file from Pro-Gen into Gramps, but how do I do that ?
(for exemple wich option; ASCII or …)

p.s. i am also a new user of iMac/IOS …

According to the wiki, the export of GEDCOM from Pro-Gen had excessive data loss.

See the wiki for more information on the steps of importing the native Pro-Gen format.

Hey DJ,

Are you Dutch? Here Enno from Driebergen. I did the same study as one of the Pro-Gen programmers.

As far as I can check, standard options are OK, if you want to follow the GEDCOM route. It worked last time, when I wanted to import the vorsten example database into Gramps.

I never tried the direct import, so if you want to try that as recommended by emyoulation, you are sort of on your own.

Hallo Enno,
Ja ik ben Ned. !!
Probleem is nieuwe PC (iMac) en daarom nieuw Gen. progr. (Gramps)
Daarom lukt ‘t niet zo goed ….

Met vriendelijke groet,
DJ Lankhof

OK, dan raad ik je aan om eerst even te lezen waar emyoulation naar verwees, op onze wiki. En voor de export zelf, eventueel nog op de siite van Pro-Gen.

Hey DJ,

I’m switching to English again, so that the others can still recognize what we are discussing here.

Can you tell us a little more about your situation? Do you run Pro-Gen on iOS? I’m asking, because the recommended procedure seems to be that you point the Gramps importer to the DEF file in the Pro-Gen data folder. And that can only work, if you have that data folder on your Mac. And if you don’t have it there, you must either copy that whole folder first, or switch to the PC where Pro-Gen is installed, and follow the standard procedure to create a GEDCOM there, which you then copy to your Mac.
