Uninstall Gramplet

Hi,

How can I complete uninstall a gramplet in v5.2 ?

Thanks

Use the Plugin Manager, found in the Help menu.

(The Plugin Manager is more user friendly if you have installed the Plugin Manager Enhanced addon.)

I can just hide a gramplet and not completely uninstall.

I make the hard solution : i delete the folder in .gramps/gramps52/plugins but i don’t konw if it’s enought.

The removal of the folder is eqivalent to uninstalling through Plugin Manager.

Neither cleans any Configuration settings. So, if you uninstall to fix a Configuation problem and re-install the addon, then the problem will return.

I don’t find the “uninstall” function in the Plugin Manager. In the Help menu’s version, I just have “Show/Hide”.

Where are the configuration settings ?

The Configuration settings are variable. The contributor of a View, Gramplet, Report or Tool may choose to have persistent customizations.

Views and Gramplets access the customizing via the Configure button on the view’s toolbar or the View → Configure menu item. An .ini file is stored where the developer decides. (It could be in the plugins folder, the addon"s folder inside the plugins folder, the Gramps User Directory, or somewhere else. Separately, Gramps stores gui information about things like window positioning in the main gramps.ini or the .ini for each splitbar.

Reports store their options in a common .xml. I am not not sure that tools remember their customizations.

Only splitbars seem to have an automatic purge of these setting. And that purge is only done if the associated view becomes active while the addon is missing.

So, as you can tell, it is complicated.

Thanks for your clarifications. It’s still a bit complex for many users unfamiliar with direct file manipulation. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to add a function to uninstall cleanly from the plugin manager?
