How do I move existing [3.4.5-1 on Win10] Gramps data to new laptop

I have an very old version of Gramps on an old Laptop, with extensive data recorded. I have version 3.4.5-1 running on Windows 10.

Have bought a new laptop, also running Windows 10.

How do I get Gramps running on the new Laptop, and how do I bring across my data files to work on the new Laptop?

Thanks

Make a backup and then after installing the current version of Gramps 5.1.2 you can restore the backup.

Following these instructions

You can either include all your media or manually move it across to an identical location.

Good luck.

I recommend manually moving the media records.

IF you choose the backup with media, when you import it into the new version of Gramps, it creates a folder at c:\users%you% and will extract the media into that folder. You will then want to move that folder somewhere more accessible. Make sure that you set the Gramps Preferences Media path to this new location.

Thanks for the very helpful tips.
All resolved and working fine on the new Laptop.
Thanks again.
