Printable vertical family tree

I am new to Gramps, using version 6.0.5 on MacOS 15.7.2.

I would like to create a vertical family tree as PDF.

When I click on Create (in Rapports) I cannot find a way to select a vertical tree.

Do I need a plugin or something ?.

Thanks

Welcome!

I put in ā€œvertical family treeā€ in a web search. With all the reports doing different things and having different names, I was trying to get a sense of what you wanted.

It came back with a discussion already posted here.

Possibly. Use the Gramps Addon Manager to install ā€˜Descendants Lines’. That should give you a simple vertical tree, and PDF format is one of output options.

ā€˜Descendants Lines’ does exactly what I was looking for, and I now know how to add extensions.

Thanks for your response to my question.

You didn’t mention if you want a text or graphical report. Within graphical reports, Family Lines has a layout parameter allowing to develop the diagram along any axis: upwards, downwards, leftward or rightward.

I will have a look at that. Thanks for the info.

Glad to hear that. There’s another addon you might be interested in, which allows you to build your tree via a ā€˜vertical tree’ but it’s not available in the plugin manager until you set it up as a ā€˜project’ in the plugin manager. It’s called ā€˜FamilyTreeView’ and there are two (very) long topics about it. The second one starts here, and the first post has a link back to the original topic:

You don’t need to read those topics though as everything you need to know to get started with it, including installing it, is on this page at github:
