Gramps 6.0.1 - Vertical Detailed Family Tree - Ancestors Spread Vertically?

Hi everyone,

I’m using Gramps 6.0.1 on Windows 11 and generating the ‘Detailed Family Tree’ graphic report using a vertical orientation (similar to the attached screenshot excerpt).

While the descendants branching off horizontally look okay, I’ve noticed that the main vertical line seems to spread the immediate ancestors (parents/grandparents of the central person) far apart vertically – some appearing near the top and some near the bottom of this line.

Is this the standard way the vertical Detailed Family Tree displays the ancestral line relative to the central person in this view? Or, are there specific report configuration settings I might need to adjust to keep the direct parents visually closer to the central person on this vertical axis? I’m trying to determine if this layout is inherent to the report/version or if it’s adjustable.
Thanks for any guidance!

Point of pedantry, you must be using v6.0.1 as v6.1 is not yet available. You might want to edit your post including the title to correct your typo.

corrected. Thx. Moderator

This is the Descendant Tree report with Reports ->Graphical Reports → Descendant Tree…

And you’re looking for something more like:

Have you tried the Compress Tree in the Tree Options tab?

Compress tree Whether to move people up, where possible, resulting in a smaller tree (checkbox unchecked by default)

Still the same. I tried Compress Tree. I also tried running the report using Ubuntu. May I know which system you are using?
