either [Page-Down] does nothing
or the active person changes, as shown by the status bar and the bottom, but the display does not change to show the active person. I have about 18000 people.
This affects only the Person view, other similar views Family, Citation (33000 citations), Source, Repository and Notes work as expected.
I too have Gramps 6.0.6 on Windows (11) but with only a few hundred people in my tree. I can’t recreate your problem. When I:
open Gramps
select the People view
click on a person, to ensure the focus is in the list of names
click page up / page down on my keyboard
the focus moves as expected to a new person page up / page down the list of names. It doesn’t matter if the list of names is grouped by surname or not, it still pages as expected.
I am using 6.0.6 on Win10 and like @stuck it is working as expected in the People view and all other list views.
To make sure I am understanding the issue, when you page-down, the active person changes in the status bar (as expected) but the scroll list is unchanged.
What happens in the Grouped People view’s list?
In the People list, after two page-downs, does the Go Back arrow move the list to the previous active person?
Do you have the Themes addon installed and have you set a different Theme (Adwaita is the default) and/or do you have the Fixed Scrollbar option checked?
Thank you for your suggestions. In trying to reply, I have discovered what’s going on. The [Page-Down] key is being actioned correctly, but slowly, in 5 to 10 seconds.
In the Grouped People view, the response is immediate.
I’m using the default theme Adwaita.
I use the recent items addon.
I use the Deep Connections gramplet quite often, and the delay I am experiencing is about the same as when I change to a new person when it is active.
As far as I can see, the Deep Connections gramplet is not active. I have closed all sidebars and bottom bars in all views and all clipboards and the delay persists.
When I hit [Page-Down] Gramps uses appreciable CPU, as shown in Task Manager, until the display responds.
It looks as though I have some CPU-intensive process being invoked when I change the active person. How can I mitigate this unwanted effect?
When you to change to Person View are you selecting an individual or not
(the highlighted one is not actually selected), in the case of not then
Page Up/Down does not work if yes then it does as normal
Well at least that is how it works for me
