More convenient ability to hide live persons from reports

Lets imagine I have 100 live persons and 200 dead persons.

I want see only 200 dead persons in my generated reports. I have to lock my 100 live persons via the [Privacy] Lock button. Sound good. But how to mark person as live or dead? We don’t have checkmark. As I understand we have to add the Death event for all dead Persons. That’s ok, I’ve added such events for all dead even if I don’t know dates.

My question is:
If I have such Death events already added everywhere where they should be added (with OR without dates), how can I hide add Persons who doesn’t have Death event yet? Is it possible to implement such option in the export settings?

Or another question: how can I find all live persons who is not Lock-ed yet and then fix it? And vise versa - how can I find all death persons who is Lock-ed and then fix it.

Thanks.

Many of the reports and exports have options to exclude living people and/or limit what is printed for living people.

For people without a death event, the setting in Preferences Maximum age probably alive: Default: 110; will come into play.

There is a people filter rule People marked private. If you want the opposite if this rule, in the Define Filter window with the list if its rules there is the check box Return values that do not match the filter rules.

You can use the addon SetPrivacyTool to manage privacy. It also has an option to set records private if there is no valid date or no event.

@Mattkmmr several more questions. Could you answer pls private or public will be set for such cases:
Missing Birth event and…
1… and missing Death events
2… and existing Death event with undefined date
3… and existing Death event with defined date (I think will be Public)

Existing Birth event with undefined date and…
4… and missing Death events
5… and existing Death event with undefined date
6… and existing Death event with defined date (I think will be Public)

Existing Birth event with defined date and…
7… and missing Death events (I think will depend on the Years option)
8… and existing Death event with undefined date (I think will depend on the Years option)
9… and existing Death event with defined date (I think will be Public)

Thanks.

Please be clear that the Living filter (explicitly limited by death or death-like events; and, with extrapolated limits based lifespans & generation lengths set in preferences) and the manual Privacy (lock) filter are 2 independent systems.

You may be doing unnecessary manual labor by setting so many privacy locks. In many cases the living filter will have already done the work of excluding the targets.

You can evaluate this with some creative uses of custom filters. Search for persons marked private who are NOT probably living. Then search for the reverse.

With luck, most of those marked Private would already been caught by the Living filter.
