[macOS] Interface/Window disappears / cannot be interacted with after start (cause is TOTD)

After setting up gramps-web on my NAS I wanted to get started with the desktop client as well and setup sync.
However, after installing the latest version on macOS, it was not possible to interact with the UI more than creating and loading a tree. After that, the windows would disappear or when recalled could not be interacted with.

Did I miss a step during installation and this is a common issue?
Or did I stumble upon an edge case that should be reported on the main bug tracking platform?

What other information would help with triaging this?
I can create a screen recording, etc.

System

  • macOS Sequoia 15
  • Gramps Version: 6.0.6

No this should not be happening and nobody else including @jralls the creator of the macos installer have reported this issue.

Can you mention if you have more than one screen and is it turned off?

Is this the first time you have used Gramps desktop?

Screenshots would be helpful.

PS: I’m not a macos user.

Potentially relevant bug report 13983.

It very much looks like it. Especially, since the advice for the workaround was actually helpful.
Finding a way to close the TOTD and making sure it doesn’t show up again, solves my issues.

Only one screen, the built-in one from a MacBook. And it’s turned on
It’s the first time using Gramps Desktop. To try to retest it with a clean slate, I deleted the Application Support directory for Gramps as well.

As I don’t currently have an account on the bug report platform, feel free to add any information of mine to the report.

Glad the workaround allows you to use Gramps. Added a note to the bug.
