GrampsAIO5.1.6 does not start

(Gramps 5.1.6, Windows 11)
I first installed Gramps on my W11-laptop today. Upon completion of the installation, it started alright and I was able to play around a bit.

The next time I started Gramps, it did not get any further than a non-functional console window.
I’ve tried to uninstall and reinstall Gramps a number of times.
In the process, I’ve …

  • installed Gramps for all users (in c:\program files) and uninstalled it again
  • installed Gramps for my local account (in appdata.…) and uninstalled it again
  • manually removed appdata\local\gramps
  • manually removed appdata\roaming\gramps including empty subfolders and 0 bytes log file

What do I need to do to wipe Gramps from my laptop completely?
What shall I try next to get Gramps installed and functional again?

I will test this on my desktop later tonight. My laptop only runs Windows 10, and on that, Gramps does start, although it might take about a minute or so.

After I restarted my laptop, Gramps started alright again…
… and again…

Nice! I saw no problems with Windows 11 here either.

The one time that I found a problem was with an aggressive virus scanner, probably F-Prot (free from Ziggo).
