Connecting married people without children

6.0.1 - Windows 11

Hi :slightly_smiling_face: I am new to Gramps, and I am struggling to define two people as being married. Under the “relationships” view I can add parents and siblings, but I don’t know how to define two people without children as being married.

Any help will be appreciated!

Use the Families icon on the left panel (just below the Relationship icon).
In the Families view click the [+] to open the Family editor window.
In the editor you can either select persons already in the system, or add new persons.

Welcome!

I do all of my adding and editing of people and their families in the Relationships view.

Select one of the people for the family as the active person. Then select the Partner icon from the toolbar to Add a New Family with Person as a Parent.

This will create a new family with them as a parent then it is easy to either add a new person as their spouse, or select them from the database if their record already exists.

Thanks @DaveSch and @csam - this worked well! Quite easy really.

I’ve been able to add upwards of 70 people to our databasis so far - really fun work.

I have 13,000 people in my database that I imported for Family Tree Maker and in the process of cleaning up. Gramps is handling it far better. Just needed to learn to do things the Gramps way which didn’t take long.
