The pushmi-pullyu dilemma

I just tried to find the posting with the Welcome message now that the Discourse group has been running for a bit. It took some effort and that content was in a surprising place.

The “Mailing list” information has been spun out into a separate Topic under the Uncategorized category.

Perhaps we need a Discourse Category for topics about using this forum (as opposed to being about using Gramps). It seems like that should be a VERY sparsely populated Category to avoid overwhelming new visitors. Perhaps a category only an Admin can add to but that everyone can see.

Such a category could use 2 additional Topics: 1 with instructions on where to learn more about the features of Discourse (including a link to the meta.discourse.group New Discourse User Tips & Tricks or their Discobot tutorial); a second with official alternatives to using Discourse to interact with the Gramps community (and including a link to an interactive topic where we can share pointers to unofficial channels: like the r/gramps reddit community, the GRAMPS for Genealogists & I use Gramps Facebook groups, YouTube subscription channels like TechTutorials

Finally, could you link the Welcome message into the “FAQ” and possibly the description at the top of the “About” pages?
