[resolved] Gramps Download still refers to 6.0.0 for Mac

The gramps download page: https://gramps-project.org/blog/download/ has pointers to the 6.0.0 Mac images instead of the 6.0.1 images. It correctly points to 6.0.1 for Win and Linux source.

The 3 MediaWiki templates have just now been updated to the 6.0.1 downloads.

I do not have edit rights to the WordPress pages, so that download page is not updated. @gramps-project will probably have to update that:

A 6.0.1 macOS user on facebook reports that the About box is still reporting 6.0.0

Is that accurate? Or could they have 2 installations and be accidentally starting 6.0.0?

(Different maintenance versions on the same box is unlikely with the other OS installers. But I seem to recollect the macOS can install with drag’n’drop. )

I can confirm that the installation package Gramps-Intel-6.0.1-1.dmg installs a version that reports 6.0.0 in the about box. Also when reporting a bug, the version is 6.0.0.
However, I have not been able to detect whether the code is 6.0.0 or 6.0.1, but I have a feeling, that it’s 6.0.0 :frowning:

Looked the 6.0.1 Announcement page for the list of changes.

The easy check should be to click the Help button in the Addon Manager of the suspect Gramps installation. If it opens the 5.2 wiki page, the installed version of Gramps is 6.0.0

One of the 6.0.1 fixes was the hard-coding of that wiki URL. So the 6.0.1 version should now go to the appropriate 6.0 version wiki pages for the Addon Manager.

I dont follow.

It looks like we are confusing 2 different issues. The original issue was that the 6.0.1 images were not on the link for downloads. This has been resolved.

The NEW issue is, is the 6.0.1 dmg file loading 6.0.0 or 6.0.1?

If I load from the 6.0.1 dmg on my Silicon Mac, the About page says it is running 6.0.0 . If I click the Gramps Homepage link from the About page, I get the gramps blog page.

So, am I running 6.0.0 or 6.0.1? I dont know. I need to know that to know whether to file a bug against the About page or against the 6.0.1 dmg file.

I have confirmed that it is really 6.0.1 even though the About page says it is 6.0.0 . Filed bug 0013816: Gramps 6.0.1 About page lists version as 6.0.0 - Gramps - Bugtracker – Free Genealogy Software

You may ask : How did I find out? I had a crash and looked at the crash file.

You’re correct about the issue migrating a bit. But the original item would not actually be resolved if the “6.0.1” downloads that had links added were not the right files.

And such a question had to be answered by users of the macOS installer. So posting to this thread is that audience.
