Merging distinct trees / Export filter

My paternal first cousins have been maintaining a family tree independent of what my parents did – there is VERY little overlap. Is there an easy way to filter out our common ancestors (which is to say our common grandparents) in the export function? Then I can just import that filtered XML file and re-link my cousins to my existing records of our grandparents.
