Large Ahnentafel

Windows 10
Gramps 5.2.4

Does anyone know how to get Gramps to produce an ahnentafel of…considerable size? It crashes when I try to create an Ahnentafel of 40 generations. If there isn’t a way to create one of that size, what is the maximum size it can handle and is there a way to break down the trees into smaller ones without having to redo everything that I’ve done?

Welcome!

I just tested the Ahnentafel report on 5.2.4 running on Win10. I used the Royal92.ged import (Needed a tree that went deep,). Using Prince William as the base person the report took it out to the 79th generation. The max setting for the report is 100 generations.

One thing you may want to run is the Check and Repair tool. (menu >> Tools >> Family Tree Repair >> Check and Repair Database) As with any batch process, make sure that you have a backup of your tree/database. I have never had a problem using the tool but… famous last words.

Thank you very much! I will try again. I’m not sure why the program stopped responding for me. The darn computer plays some ridiculously powerful games, so it shouldn’t be processing power. I will try the “check and repair tool”. I just installed this program the day before messaging the forum.
