In Media Edit not recognizing TIF images

5.1.6 on manjaro. When bringing up the media editor, under the thumbnail, if the image is a TIFF, type displayed is unknown. I remember some time back the problem was brought up and there was a simple fix. Any one remember this fix.

Is patching _pythonmime.py still outstanding?

The TIFF mime type is in the master branch but not the maintenance/gramps51 branch.

If 5.2 is supporting an overlooked classic mime type, should it strp up to the more recent ones too?

  • WebP
  • AVIF
  • HEIF and HEIC

And SVG would be nice too

Thanks that was it. I tried it on 5.1.6 on windows, but it didn’t. Works fine on linux machine.

Are you going to test it in both OSes during the 5.2 beta? It might need a cross-platform bug filed. And someone who already knows the symptoms is the obvious best choice.
