Graphview et tags

Completely personal thoughts, hoping that my words will not be distorted by Google Translate: I am still convinced that GraphView and Combined View are complementary tools in terms of synthesis and monitoring.

However, I would like to make a few feature requests.

1- GraphView:

* Indicate tags for events

* Automatically generate a tag when adding a SOSA.

All this to have a snapshot of current research (I don’t use tags as temporary markers) and thus have a monitoring tool within the framework of a discontinuous genealogy.

2 - Question: Could Gramps use two views simultaneously on two virtual desktops: Graphview on desktop 1 and Combined View on desktop 2?

3 - Following a recent discussion about keyboard shortcutshttps://gramps.discourse.group/t/keyboard-shortcuts-not-valid/7898/15?u=bjc49, I realized that depending on the number of categories in the browser, a significant number of items would be generated.

Wouldn’t it be interesting to consider introducing a mechanism for calling a command palette… a bit like in Obsidian? Ctrl+P → command palette → type a searched function → get a list → choose the command (+ possibility to create a custom keyboard shortcut) Forgive me for being so long.

Hello Jean-Claude :waving_hand:

Your suggestions gives me the idea that there could be an automation add-on. Rules, for example, based on filters, would automatically perform an action the first time the filter matches. That add-on would run in background.

For example, in your case, that would need a rule based on a filter on your ancestors, and the action linked to this rule would be to add the defined tag associated with the rule. A constraint associated to the rule (or the filter itself?) wouldn’t run the rule nor trigger the action(s) if the Sosa tag is already settled. Action(s): The action could, of course, be a list of actions. Their execution could trigger other rules performing other actions (e.g. - stupid example - any Person record tagged with the Sosa tag would be set private - it could be made by one rule, the Sosa tag rule, or in a second one triggered by this tag or by other criteria e.g. - less stupid - presence of the Sosa tag and absence of the Completed tag - another rule triggered by the Completed tag would unset the private flag).

Personally, when I create an Person record, I always add a citation, always the same one. This could be done by an automatic action (but I don’t know what filter/rule could be created to identify a new record and trigger the action — there are surely limits to this logic - maybe with a mix of filters and possibilities offered by SuperTool to access internal Gramps data).

I managed to do it with the CardView addon which allows you to detach a view and therefore see it at the same time as the Family Tree View (if you want to see what it looks like, I posted a video on the Discourse). More generally, it could be cool to be able in Gramps to detach views and continue to see them when looking at another one.

I’m wondering if I’m in the right place to express these feature requests? First, why am I fixated on these two views?Interface graphique (GraphView)

As a member of a small genealogy knowledge exchange group, I’m trying to direct people to the Gramps software. In my opinion, Graphview and its rich context menus allow you to build your family tree interactively without necessarily using the browser.

In my opinion, it’s only afterward that I emphasize the importance of citing your sources, thus explaining the data structure.For me, the Combined/Events view gives a one-click overview of everything you’ve built.

And recently, while rereading Je change de logiciel : mon organisation Even though we’re talking about another genealogy software, I looked into the use of tags, and that’s the purpose of my remarks.
