Is it possible to abbreviate the names of people marked as confidential and also lock their data when exporting gedcom? Only the abbreviated name should be displayed. If I activate the confidentiality filter, the people are completely missing.
Export your ENTIRE existing Gramps database with no restrictions to a brand new identical Gramps database, named “Clone-database” or similar.
Create and apply filter(s) to the cloned database, using rules such as “People marked Private”, to locate the people you wish to keep confidential.
Change the name of each selected person to just their initials.
Export the now-redacted database to a Gedcom file, without applying any export restrictions.
Keep in mind that certain records of the non-confidential people in the file might contain the full or partial name of confidential people (e.g., transcriptions of census records for a family, etc.). Consequently, you may wish to open the Gedcom file in Word or similar app to search for any inadvertant occurences of the names you wish to keep confidential.
