Full path + filename limit?

Gramps 6.01 Fedora 42.

Having spent a few days loading images, I’m now finding they are missing - replaced by X in a square.

Full path is 103 characters, including filename + extension.

Is this valid? Windows 254 limit is the only one I’ve found to date?

Graphic is at the specified location.
All ASCII characters, no punctuation etc.

Suggestions please?

Are you sure about that path?

/data/ is an odd top-level Fedora path. I would expect to see an absolute path that starts with something like:
/home/<username>

Are you using a relative Base media path in your Preferences and changed it? Verifying the base path should be your first step?

See the wiki section: "Missing Media Objects ‘broken link’ icon of a box with a red ‘x’ "

But as a last resort, there IS an addon tool for finding media files that have been rearranged in storage. (It searches within the relative base media path.):

I am root (own the machine), it is valid

Nix found at your link?

Possibility. Where group photo used for all those in the group, I’ve used the ‘hand’ to pick the pic from the media directory?
I think it might be those ‘second use’ cases that cause the red cross (which made me think it was a bad link?).

Would you agree with that diagnosis?
