I see 113 suggestions in the Spanish translation. Most of them suggest changing “Reporte” → “Informe”.
Then I see the current suggestion “Cruz ortodoja” → “Cruz ortodoxa” recently added.
The only other suggestion is for the translation of Passover: “Pésaj” → “Pascua”.
Perhaps @jcsaaver and other Spanish would like to comment on these.
Are there dialect differences for En Español and En Castellano that might apply to these suggestions?
Those three suggestions are correct.
Español and Castellano are synonyms. Both can be translated as “español”.
I had been told that there were dialect differences. And that Castellano tends to be more formal.
Thank you. I have accepted all the suggestions relating to these three changes.
The word ‘Pascua’ is more commonly associated with Easter in Christian traditions. While Passover is sometimes referred to as ‘Pascua judía’ to distinguish it, ‘Pésaj’ is the correct term when specifically referring to the Jewish holiday.
Since Gramps uses ‘Passover’ specifically in the context of Jewish holidays, we should keep the Spanish translation as ‘Pésaj’.
I’ve therefore reverted the change of it.
