Difficulties installing Isotammi addons and finding MultiMerge in the interface

Hello. I have been trying to install the MultiMerge as a gramplet, but try as I may, the isotammi projects will never appear in my list. I see (and downloaded) the python files for the tool. Is there a way to install from that instead? Thanks hopefully.

I see from your user profile that you are using Gramps 5.2.4 on Win10.

For Gramps 5.2.x, the Isotammi addons can be added to the new Addon Manager projects with the url. Be careful, this is the 1st version with this ability and it will choke on “white space” in the URL: no leading/trailing spaces; no tabs, carriage returns or linefeeds.

Select the new Isotammi Project (and ONLY that new project) after adding

Click check for updated addons now

Click the Select All button then the Install Selected Addons button. Restart Gramps after the downloads and installs finish,

The tricky part in the Addons tab is that the Isotammi group believes that only “Expert” users are the audience for their addons. So you would have to increase the filter from addons tab that “Everyone” will find understandable. So I just add them all using the Settings tab and use the Addons tab to read the descriptions.

And, after installing and restarting, the Tools will appear in a new Isotammi submenu and specific categories of the Gramplet splitbars.

MutliMerge has different features in People versus Places

If that works for you, SKIP THIS NEXT SECTION it is the “hard” way
From the downloads that you did, YES you can install them manually. Just put the folders in the right plugins folder within the Gramps user directory.

For my fresh install of a Gramps 5.2 on Windows, that folder will be located at

%LocalAppData%/gramps/gramps/gramps52/plugins

if you updated from 5.1 or earlier, the User Directory will be in a legacy folder:
%AppData%/gramps/gramps/gramps52/plugins

Oh wow! It actually worked. There was indeed a space at the end.
Thanks again.

Great! Mind if I move this from Private Message to “help” with a solution? Others will likely have the same problem

Of course! It was not obvious.
Although the Gramplet says it is installed, I don’t see how to run it.

??? where?

Add it to the Gramplet sidebar. Make certain the tab for MultiMerge is selected

The MultiMerge has extra “tab” in some categories. (In Places category, it has an “Automerge” tab.)
