Detailed Decendant Reports not sequencing people by age

Version: GRAMPS: AIO64-5.1.5-1
OS: Windows 11
Hello, first I want to humbly thank all of you for your tireless work on GRAMPS. I am a novice user, not a developer with a minimal knowledge of SQL.
On and off for the last year or two I have been working on a family tree. Recently I have been sharing reports with family members and requesting updates and corrections.
The questions:

  1. In the Detailed Decendant Report people are not sequenced by age, why is that?
  2. Even though I indcated that there was an adoption in the Families section, it is not mentioned in the detailed report. Why is that?
Are these things I have to fix manually

The reports normally follow the order of families and offspring as shown in the Relationships category view.

By default, these are ordered in the same order they were added to the tree. (See the “Sorting children by date of birth” discussion thread) If you entered them out of sequence, there are re-ordering features.

Excellent!

THANK YOU.

Thank you, emyoulation,
I have a corrolary question. Thre are two children that are adopted by a stepfather, but we do not see this reflected in the detailed descendenat report. Please see attached…

Did you set the Relationship type for the Father to “Adopted” in the Adoptive father family?

See the Child Reference Editor

Note that in Ascendant tracing features, Gramps developers tend to only follow the “Primary” parents. (see Reordering Families in the Person Object Editor) Usually, you’ll want the that to be the Biological parents.

Please note that some hotlinks have been added to a “proposed article” outline about re-ordering data in Gramps.

I just ran a test on my data and a child adopted by a step-father or just adopted into a family has no special notation in report.

I have them with “Adoptive Name” in their preferred name type and they are listed as an “Adopted” child of at least one of the parents.

I do have the child with their “Birth Name” as an alternative name entry. The report allows you to include this in the report settings (Include 2). There is also an option to include a listing all events for the person (Include). If you have the adoption as an event, it will be included. Both of these options show in the Person’s section not in the section of their parents.
