Can GitHub be searched for new features

I am attempting to discover when a feature was introduced. It is not mentioned in the Release News. Does that mean it has to be backtracked via GitHub?

From the differences in the 5.0 & 5.1 wiki, the timer-based Automatic Backup was probably introduced in the 5.1 version. But I have not found a public notice about it.

How is GitHub searched for such things?

And is there a way to retroactively insert a ‘new feature’ listing into the Roadmap and release notes?

There is mention of Automatic backup options in Gramps 5.0 What’s New as a bullet point under “Primary changes” for the release. Is that what you’re looking for?
