Win User needs help with Gramps Web Installation

Hello,
I have now bought a Raspberry 5.

After more than 30 years of Windows, exploring the Linux world is really hard for me and I don’t understand much and am now stuck.
After several hours (thanks YouTube!!) I have now got Docker and Docker Compose running.
Now comes the installation of Gramps Web. I’m not getting any further at the moment.
I have the Portainer screen in front of me. The first step of Gramps Web says
" Create a new file on the server named docker-compose.yml and insert the following contents: docker-compose.yml."
Where do I have to create this file?? On the server? Help, which server?
Please push me in the right direction…

Hi,

I have never used Portainer, so cannot help you with that.

Concerning the compose file, you can simply create a dedicated folder wherever you want, e.g. /home/pi/docker/, and put the file there.

Ok thanks,
I thought I needed Portainer for Gramps Web because it says in the instructions above that these are the requirements?
“We will assume that Docker and Docker Compose are already installed in your system”
That’s why I was confused. Ok Docker Compose isn´t Portainer :grimacing:
Ok, one step closer to the goal. Thanks

i take the comand

docker compose up -d

and get this error:

Error response from daemon: driver failed programming external connectivity on endpoint docker-grampsweb-1 (9d40c7678ec96a62f02d8725564f579bd16ee21bece7bf03e5c7863fe1129f4d): failed to bind port 0.0.0.0:80/tcp: Error starting userland proxy: listen tcp4 0.0.0.0:80: bind: address already in use

Got it to work. I probably played around with the settings too much. Thanks for the great software, David & Co.

Best wishes from a Kirchheim native
