Unused objects were created

Gramps 5.2.3
Fedora 41

I discovered when running ‘Family Tree Repair/Remove Unused Objects’ that I have a bunch of unused objects.
They are from Events, Media, Places and Citations.
This objects don’t make any sense to me.
They don’t have any references and I don’t know where they come from.

One example:

I made a note for a person’s event (marriage) and it looked OK with a event number when checking that person’s record.
But there was also another event created with different event number displaying the same note text but with no reference … strange.

Can I delete them from my tree?

Yes, you can. Gramps is a little odd, when you compare it to other programs, in the sense that when you delete a person, it just deletes the person from the person table, and associated families, if they have no connections to other persons.

All other objects are left alone, and can be re-used if you want. That probably does not make much sense for events, although you may want to keep some if they refer to wars, or other disasters. Same goes for media, places, and sources/citations.

Keeping places may be a good idea if you’ve invested a lot of time in their hierarchy.

Thanks … then I will delete unused objects and hopefully I can sleep peacefully after that.

Another source of objects with no references is when creating secondary objects for a new primary object, then Canceling (rather than committing with Ok) for the new Primary object.

I do not delete any Place record that I have created that is now no longer needed.
