If you added parent expander(s) for the Spouse(s) of the Active Person, it would give most of the needed subset selection features.
As an example, I might want to gift new parents or newlyweds (or my siblings) a print of their joint pedigree. If there is a child, it is easy… making the child the active person and boosting the ancestor generations creates a nice pedigree chart to output to SVG and tweak. For my sibling and in‐law (or newlyweds) without offspring, it is necessary to create a placeholder child.
The Person-oriented rather than Family-oriented Charts is consistent throughout the Charts category. I just think it misses an opportunity.
