Since the last major update (switching to Gramps 6.0), the following improvements have been implemented (as of v0.1.125):
-
Custom badges based on filters (requested by @Brinycoolie here):
Using the flexible filter feature in Gramps, you can now create your own badges. In the config window, you can select the filters whose matches should get a badge in the tree. You can set a short text (e.g. short word, symbol or emoji), a text and a background color for the badge.
As you can see, the sidebar filter is included in the list. I now recommend this instead of the “filter result” badge from the example badges addon, since the new implementation is much faster. I also created two custom filters here: a person filter that matches all persons whose birth event does not have a high confidence source, and a family filter that matches all families whose marriage event’s place is in the US.
I’m curious to see how you will use this feature with complex/nested filters to highlight exactly those persons/families that are relevant to you in your current research phase. -
@TJB’s PR was merged that adds the spouse’s name to family events in the timeline. Thank you very much!

The GitHub repo now has 14 stars. It’s great to know that many people like my addon and find it useful!
