Need help in adding "participants" to an event

Hello,

Haven’t used Gramps for a while and now I have to add an event to a person.

While doing so, I also want to add “participants’ to an event but can’t find the right way to do that.

I tried already all the tabs under “Shared Information” in the “Event Reference Editor” but can’t find the way to accomplish that.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Gramps v 6.0.6 (Flatpak) on Linux Mint

The way to do it is to copy the event to each of the participants. If necessary you can select the type of role for each person.

Hope this helps!

Sharing an Event is, as George said, easiest to do through the Clipboard.

using the Clipboard image

  1. Drag’n’drop the Event from the Events tab of the Edit Person (or Edit Family) dialog to the Clipboard. (Open the Clipboard from the Edit menu or the toolbar icon.)
  2. open the Edit Person (or Edit Family) dialog for the next participant
  3. Drag’n’drop the Event from the Clipboard to the Events tab of the Edit dialog for the Participant
  4. Change the Role from Unknown to Primary for a person Event, or Family for a family Event.

using the sharing 768639722 icon

  1. open the Edit Person (or Edit Family) dialog for the next participant
  2. In the Events tab of the Edit dialog for the Participant, click the Share an existing event icon in the tab’s toolbar
  3. find and double-click the Event in the Select Event dialog
  4. Change the Role from Unknown to Primary for a person Event, or Family for a family Event.

The reason this second method is more difficult is: finding the Event in the Select Event is tedious.

I usually note the ID number of the Event to be copied and then using the Shared Icon using the ‘ID contains’ search.

I tend to sort the Select Event list by “Last Change”. And now the Recent Items addon (from the Isotammi curated collection) eliminates the need to change the sort order.

But if it is not a recently modified Event, then using the ID is a good approach… but still, the clipboard is much easier.

Thanks for the tips.

I used the clipboard to copy the event to the participants.

I seems a little bit complicated (compared to a edit/completion in an ‘editor’) but it does the trick.

Thanks again.

I find that if you open the person with the event and open the person that you want the event to have. Make sure they can both be seen on the screen and drag and drop from the first person to the 2nd person.
