Is there a way to mark Wiki pages for deletion? ( Yes add [[Category:Deletion request]] )

Mark a page for removal?

I am investigating a way to consolidate an article on the Gramps wiki that is split into two times 27 pages that are transcluded into a single page, reducing it to one single page. That would leave a lot of pages that no longer serve a purpose.

There is (of course) no direct way for an average editor to delete a page, but is there a way to mark a page as a candidate for deletion?

At the very least any reader/editor should be discouraged from using these obsolete pages.

Banner template?

Is there a template to put a banner on a page, telling the viewer, e.g. “Warning. This page is no longer valid. The contents has moved to different page”. That banner can then also serve as a marker for administrators to considder this page for deletion.

In this case a redirect is required from the old to the new.

And to answer your question if the page really needs to be deleted and not redirected then add [[Category:Deletion request]] to the page please.

This reply leaves me confused.

  • Are you referring to the case of 27 pages that are transcluded into the main page?
  • Which particular wiki page is the old page and which is the new page?
  • What problem would a redirect solve? And how?

That is very clear. Thank you for you answer.
