It can be non-intuitive to determine a date from relative references. (e.g., “Tuesday last” or “will be on Monday” in a newspaper article published 15 Jan 1910. So you have to lookup that date to determine it was a Saturday. Then count forward or back.) It would be a lot more intuitive if a calendar was more easily accessible from the Date Selection dialog.
The Calendar Gramplet has a date selection functionality. You can drag a day to the clipboard or any text field (like a date entry field) and a date in (mm/dd/yyyy format) will be inserted. (Since there is no ‘year’ entry and the scroll-rate for years is so slow, it took a long time to go to 1536 from 2024.)
Double-clicking a date in the calendar will open am “On this Day” QuickView report. Right-clicking a row allows editing the person/family.
