I’m not sure which window you mean.
Gramps should remember the order of gramplets in both the sidebar and bottombar.
There is a possibility that immediately come to mind…
A separate Bottombar exists for EACH view mode in EACH view category. It is terribly easy to lose track of which you have re-ordered in what way. (I just did a search for bottombar in my 5.2 Gramps User Directory. There were 38 separate .ini files! And another 38 for the sidebars
Here is the situation that I have. The first pic shows the order of the columns/gramplets initially. The second pic shows how I have rearranged the order of the columns/gramplets and the third pic shows their order after closing and reopening GRAMPS. The view is the same and the person selected is the same but in each case the arrangement has changed arbitralilly. I would prefer not to have to rearrange the order of these gramplets each time I open GRAMPS
Try this. Set the order of the Gramplets in the view. Change to a different view then close Gramps. After restarting Gramps see if the order of the gramplets reverted or hopefully not.
Changing between views should help ensure that the settings are saved to the view’s .ini files.
If the problem persists, which Gramps version are you using on which OS.
If the test that @DaveSch proposes does not work…
with Gramps not running, delete the _bottombar.ini settings files for the 2 People views. Then start Gramps again and re-order the bottombar in both the Flat and Group list views. Shut down Gramps from the menu.
Check for new _bottombar.ini files. Open one with a text editor. Are the chunks in the re‐ordering you intended?
Restart Gramps. Has the order changed?
(This is a test about verifying that writing/overwriting the .ini files is working on your system.)
I have just run a graphical report to list ages of marriage. It came up with 2 at 12 years and 2 at 14 years. How can i determine who these individuals are? Thanks
Use Tools → Utilities → Verify the Data tool to locate these marriages.
You can reduce the Minimum age to marry to 13 to find the first two married at age 12. Raising it to 15 for the 2 others is likely to find the others… but it might find a lot of border cases too.
Expand the “Early Marriage” section and double-click the row to open that Family Editor
The right side of the Person edior for each spouse shows their age for the Events.
