How can I remove an (by mistake) entered "preferred name"?

I have a person with an entry of a preferred name (Person Editor, tab Names ) which I entered by mistake and now it seems I can’t remove the entry again.

Even when selecting the minus symbol nothing happened.
Is this a bug or did I something wrong?

Any feedback is appreciated.

TIA

The preferred name is the one showing at the top of the Person Editor dialog. You can modify it directly. (The extra editing features found in the Name Editor can be accessed by clicking the Edit button to the right of the Suffix field.)

By the way, if you had already added the correct name as an Alternative name, you could drag that row up to the Preferred name spot. The alternative will become the new Preferred… and the previously Preferred will be pushed down to the 1st Alternative position. Where it can be deleted.

@emyoulation Thanks for the explanation.

My conclusion would be that a preferred name never can be deleted, only altered, somehow.
Would you agree?

Effectively, that’s right.

It can only be edited or swapped.
