Help with Reports

GrampsWeb 6.06

For the first time, I tied to create a repoert.

It listed the output from a document

I made listing the files within a folder

I made yesterday about the Fetch TV.

No relationship with Gramps at all.

I repeated the process with a different

subject, but I got the same answer.

Help, please, Garry Leach

Hi,

6.0.6 is a Gramps Desktop version, not Gramps Web.

Can you please paste the full version info (Settings > System Information if it’s Gramps Web)?

Do I understand correctly that your browser downloads a different file rather than the generated report?

A screen capture video would be helpful.

Hi David, Thanks for your prompt reply.

Which of these is the version?
Gramps info:
Gramps 6.0.6
Gramps Web API 3.7.1
Gramps Web Frontend 26.2.0
Gramps QL 0.4.0
Sifts 1.1.1
locale: en
multi-tree: false
task queue: true
OCR: true

The output was a list of files in a folder about my Fetch PVR; the output has"file.json" in the “screen file name place”, and completely unrelated to Gramps.
The report app seems to like that folder as it outputs it each time.

I did have that folder open recently, as I had had a problem with that equipment, subsequently resolved yesterday.

Yesterday, I was testing the GrampsWeb report function on behalf of my daughter, Michelle, as she is the person who maintains the desktop version, and is trying to come to grips with the web version. She asks me to help her when things don’t go smoothly. (“The blind leading the blind”).

Best regards, Garry.

We are almost complete beginners with the web version, but I like it and congratulate you and your team for a great job.

I think I sent this, but it is still in my inbox.

So sorry if I have duplicated it.

Best, Garry.

Hi Garry,

before debugging further, can you please upgrade Gramps Web to the latest version? There have been plenty of bug fixes since the version you’re running.

Let me know if you need instructions to upgrade.

Hi David,

I didn’t realise that we were not up to date.

As you may have detected, I need to have instructions to get things right. My age is catching up with me.

Are there existing instructions that you can direct me to?

Thanks, Garry

Oh, & by the way, do these updates apply to the copy that is used by the web holder, which is my son, Chris.

Thanks, Garry.

Hi,

yes, the update needs to be run by the person controlling the server. The documentation is here:

It’s just two commands executed in the right place.

Best, David

Thanks David,

I will look into this tomorrow.

Which timezone are you in?

Garry

UTC+02:00 (specifically, I’m in Munich, Germany :pretzel::beer_mug:).
