Hi
Ihave just added my daughters husband in my family tree (by making a new family with her as the mother and her husband as the father, I presume this is correct?…seems an odd way to add him but anyway)…I then added, under my daughters husband, his parents…and will be adding his sisters, media, etc…My problem is, my daughter is the only one appearing in the tree, ie her husband and his parents dont display in my tree…is there any way I can get all of them to show up on my family tree, or am i doing this all the wrong way…any help appreciated, thanks
The Family Lines generator follows ancestors and descendants of those people. If they are not listed, they’ll eventually appear as “partners” but not more.
How are you viewing your tree? Are you selecting ‘Charts’ from the left hand panel and then using one of the views available there? Or are you clicking on ‘Reports’ in the main menu at the top and then using one of the options under either ‘Graphs’ or ‘Graphical Reports’?
I may have not understood what you’re doing. By "family tree display, do you mean you’re creating Reports>Graphs>Family Lines Graph? The configuration dialog that pops up has a People of Interest tab where you specify the starting point(s) for the graph. This is where I add “extra” people.
In principle, only spouses are shown in the graph. If you want the family lines of the spouses to be drawn, you must explicitly add selected spouses.
If your problem is not a graph generation one but one related to data entry, please describe exactly what you’re attempting:
which “primary screen” is active (see left side list: People, Relationships, Families, Charts, …)
which menu command you selected: Add>` …, or if you pressed on + toolbar icon
