Just throwing this out for discussion…
The number of changes listed in the Beta announcement are so extensive that maybe it qualifies for a major (x.0.0) release instead of a minor (x.y.0). It obviously exceeds thresholds for a maintenance/patch (x.y.z) release under the Gramps semantic versioning system.
If @gramps-project is doing a rollover of the Wiki as part of the scheduled maintenance (on Sat. 26 Aug 2023 from 18.00 to 24.00 AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) or 09:00-15:00 GMT/UTC), then the version number is a key factor in that rollover process.
Even before the beta started, the changes were extensive. But the new Python & GTK minimums, improvements in localization support, the new installers, and the possibility of an new offline manual are also important changes that may affect how other 3rd party packagers build their Gramps implementations.
The PortableGramps and GrampsWeb forks come to mind.
