I try to write responses to non-English support requests where possible. (Because you shouldn’t have to wait longer for a response than English speakers.) My answer might be poorly translated (Google tainted, of course.) But sometimes even a poor answer triggers others to respond.
However, while it is easy to find the exact menu or interface label in English and also the hotlinks to the Wiki, finding the equivalent in another language is horribly complicated. And the process is made even harder without being able to see the interface in other languages. (I am sure that this is not new information for you.)
Recently, a developer has kindly agreed to adapt one of his other tools in a way that might help both non-English speaking users and those of us doing support. And it is progressing well.
So I am trying to line up a few willing testers who are bi-lingual. (Speakers of at least one of the 90٪+ “Enabled manual” languages. (English, Albanian, German, French, Macedonian, Netherlands, Slovak. Russian and Hebrew are between 75% and 80%) The GUI should be mostly translated for the other language to be supported.
When we get further advanced, the tools should be useful for almost every Gramps-user seeking translations. But for now, the requirements are a bit higher.
