After upgrading all installed addons are gone

After upgrading on Ubuntu 24.04 from gramps 5.1.6 to 5.2.3 using the *.deb from the homepage all my previously installed addons are gone. For instance, the Photo Tagging addon which I needed to use now. I could re-install it.

However, I had same other addons which were quite useful. But I cannot remember their names since I only use Gramps every few months.

Can I see a list of my previously installed addons somewhere? Was it saved somewhere during upgrade or maybe in the backend I did before upgrading in some file?

Addons are Gramps version specific and need to be downloaded again via the Addon manager.

You can see the files & folder for your previous 5.1.x addons in your Gramps user directory under the folder gramps51/plugins/

Thanks. And this folder only contains the activated/installed plugins? Just asking because it lists about 8 plugins for me and I doubt that I have used this many.

Just to make sure that these are not also plugins so I installed once, but deactivated/deinstalled later again.

If you still have your install of 5.1.6, you can go to the menu >> Help >> Plugin Manager.

This will show you all of your Plugins. Note, some of them will say “Built-in”. These are plugins that come with the core Gramps install. Others will just say “Installed”. These are Plugins, addons, that you added for your use and stored in you user’s gramp51/plugins/ folder. You can make note of what you have installed, especially their Name and Type.

In Gramps 5.2.3, there is a green puzzle icon that will allow you to select which addons to install. You can filter options by Type and then search by name to find your desired addons.
