What elements could be removed from the Gramps core?

Lets discuss functionalities that are not essential to the core of Gramps and could be moved to be Addons to streamline Gramps. The Streamlining could be for User Experience “UX” (such as: making the Interface less overwhelming), eliminating excessive testing, functions that are no longer… or never were… common needs (such as FTREE export of writing CDs).

It seems reasonable to spin out the FTREE export plugin to be an addon and scratch that from the automated test.

And CDs (or DVDs) support seem like they should be external too. Shown in the “test plan” screen capture by @riskysnail

Also, it seems reasonable to move 2 of the 3 sidebar plugin navigator modes to be addons. Besides simplifying interface testing, is also narrows the navigator sidebar by eliminating the selector button. (I’d vote for reducing it to the “Drop-Down” navigator as the most GUI-efficient. People could addon & switch to Category or Expander.)

Not used any of those options for several years installed Simple Sidebar
and deleted the others. Yes it does increase the screen space.
