Upgrading to Monterey

MacOS 10.15.7 (Catalina) / Gramps 5.1.2-1

I’m looking to upgrade to MacOS 12 (Monterey). Should I upgrade to the latest version of Gramps first? Any other gotchas people have come across. Any advice welcome.

I’m running Gramps 5.1.4 on macOS 12.1 on a MacBook with M1 chip, and no problems so far. Be sure to make a backup before doing upgrades, of course.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I was specifically asking whether I should upgrade to the latest version of Gramps before upgrading to Monterey?

General rule of thumb… upgrade OS first and then Gramps and other apps. Making backups of the Gramps database and storing them on a separate storage device is also a good practice especially before an OS upgrade is also something you should do.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve always taken regular backups to cloud storage just in case :slight_smile:
