Sort everything by "Last changed" by default

Before start working with Gramps I do the same thing: I click the “Last Changed” columns to reorder all my lists:

  • People (not grouped list)
  • Sources (not citation tree)
  • Citations
  • Media

It is fast, but I do it every day during the last 2 years. I think it would be great make sorting by “Last Changed” as a default behavior. Is it possible make this via Settings, .ini or directly in code and how?

And just interesting - which column do you use as a default sorting behavior?

In any list view, the first column is always the default sort. You can make the Last Changed column the first column in the view’s Configuration Gramps-config where you can select which columns to display. You can also move columns into a different order using drag-n-drop within the configuration list.

You may be interested in the Last Modified addon created by @cdhorn. It must be manually installed. When loaded on the Dashboard, it loads its list without regard to category. Individual categories can be selected. When added to a View’s sidebar, that view’s list will be the default display.

There is also the Last Change addon available through Gramps.

Aren’t the Place Tree and Grouped People view modes locked to the Grouping column as the 1st column?

Yes! Which is why I and @Urchello did not include them nor the Citation Tree in the default sort query.
