Seeking advice how to attach (pdf) documents

Hello,

I’m seeking some advice of the best approach to attach pdf documents to Gramps.

Scenario: I found several Address books that had a reference to one of my ancestor.
How can/should I add this reference to my Gramps installation;

  1. download the document (page of the book) and attach it to the ancestor as “media”?
  2. or should I create a citation for this webpage (URL) and attach this to my ancestor?

In more general terms, would it be a “Source”, a “Media” or a “Citation” in Gramps?

Any suggestion is much appreciated.

TIA

Gramps v 6.0.7 on Linux Mint 22.3 (6.8.0-107 generic)

I would treat it as book source. Create a source record with the title of the book. Use the Repository for where you obtained the PDF file. I would attach the PDF file to the source’s gallery tab.

Then attach a Source/citation to an event for the person giving the address. The S/C I would put the Page:## of the book then (pdf:##) for the page number of the PDF.
