Request/Suggestion: Ability to insert images into note records

As per the attached request, wondering if (like this text editor to be fair), images could be inserted into Gramps notes records, rather than simply relying on the Link tool. Could make notes be their own mini reports/breakdowns e.g.

Use cases could be when talking about family members that are just known colloquially (and thus no details are able to be added to the database), and so can have an image and a note underneath that image (rather than a separate note just for the image itself.

I think this is a question of presentation. The Media editor could be extended with a text field (e.g. ‘Description’), but when saving the ‘description’ is saved as the first note attached to the media.

When creating a report with output as ‘.odt’ an option could be to use images’ first note as caption text.

Would it not be possible then to have an implementation akin to how the text boxes work here on the website, where a user could copy and paste an image or a screenshot and insert/manipulate that within their text box?

That is what I was supposing, although having a image text/description space would also be handy, as it would allow for any gaps from referencing to be immediately added to the media record, and tidy things up there.

A note i a note. it is only text.

The note editor is not a html editor.

I think that will never be implemented.

Thank you for clarifying,

Makes sense but wasn’t immediately apparent, so appreciate the clarity. Then I guess the suggestion can move towards what if a description to images field is added, to allow e.g. reports to capture and describe

E.g.

Report xyz
