A majority of my family tree is of European royalty and nobility, from which I descend. So my Gramps tree needs naming conventions, and I used custom name formats to create my own.
Here is an example profile, specifically that of Edward I. This shows off my naming convention for European royalty.
As you can see, I use the surname field for their dynasty name, and then use a custom name format to display it like this. I also include their epithet if they have one, and I use the Call Name field for their regnal name if they didn’t use their birth name.
Here is another example of this for nobility. I use the suffix field for their title, and I again use a custom name format to display it like this. Note that this naming convention was done with British nobility in mind, and other naming conventions would be used for nobility from other countries.
