Gramps 6.0 on windows. I imported my gedcom from FTM 2019 and merging all the duplicate citations. I’m a lumper and was wondering if there is a way to list all events using the same citations so I can merge the events to the primary person such as with census events or should I just leave the separate events alone. The reason I ask is if you copy the event to the clipboard and then paste on another person, it keeps the original event ID.
Regardless of what merge strategy you choose, install the MultiMerge gramplet … from the Isotammi addon collection.
If, for example, you find a dozen items citing the same page of a source, you would have to do 11 pairs of operations with the built-in merge. With MultiMerge in the Citations sidebar, you select all 12 and merge with a single operation.
The same when merging People or Events. I have not tested to see what happens with Event Roles during merges. We may have to ask @kku about whether differing Roles are preserved.
I’m using the multimerge, just slow going. I think I need a filter that says look for census event that references citation no., and then select the events that share that citation to merge to the primary person for that event.
