Mac Command Line Tool for Git

Gramps 5.2.4 Apple Silicon, macOS Sequoia 15.2

This is a new computer with few programs installed. An info window displays every time I start Gramps saying I should install command line developer tools for git. Cancelling out of the info window seems to have no effect on Gramps. Should I install the command line tools or will there be an update so the window will not appear?

Full window text: “The ‘git’ command requires the command line developer tools. Would you like to install the tools now? Choose install to download and install the command line developer tools now.” Followed by [Cancel] and [Install] buttons.

Gramps was downloaded from a link on the wiki page (Download - Gramps) and installed by dragging the application to the Application directory.

There is an open pull request 1946 to resolve this, contributed by JRalls. Since the author isn’t on the forum, comment on the PR if relevant, or direct other discussions to the thread on gramps-devel mailing list (link to subscribe).

Thank you codefarmer. I see the PR links back to this discussion so will wait for an update.
