About this thread, what about displayed surname and timeline on fanchart! e.g., my gramdpa gets a new surname during WWII - I will not display data from this period, it just illustrates that one can migrate or had a naming change, what should be displayed: birth name, new name, name at death?
There is an other specific case in France: surnames for jewish people were “fixed” on 19th (by fixed, we need to understand set for administratives tasks, the written sources). So, one can have a name related to “tribe” or a “pseudo-local” one! We can also transpose such issue on 20th for others groups.
