At least there should be a disclaimer on the Gramps home page that clearly states that the app on apple’s app store is in no way affiliated with the gramps project.

Done added the warning “The Gramps app on Apple’s App Store is in no way affiliated with the Gramps project.” to the Apple section of the wiki Download page. Also linked back to this discussion.
