I’ve been made aware of a genealogy app in the Apple app store named “Gramps”, which is obviously not related to the Gramps project: Gramps im App Store
Is there any way we can prevent this misleading use of the Gramps brand? Is it legally protected?
This has been a long-standing issue. (Discussed in the maillist and Discourse multiple times. Search the term: "apple store" … including quotes.)
Apple Store refuses to acknowledge any request to kill this item … despite that it being non-functional, mis‐represents itself with content from the gramps‐project documentation, and they refuse to issue refunds.
At least there should be a disclaimer on the Gramps home page that clearly states that the app on apple’s app store is in no way affiliated with the gramps project.
Done added the warning “The Gramps app on Apple’s App Store is in no way affiliated with the Gramps project.” to the Apple section of the wiki Download page.
Apple writes on App Store: Gramps

their website (https://niapps.com/) is blocked by my internet protection sofware bc its safety certificate doesn’t match. Could suspend the block but I’m not particularly keen on doing so.
