How to indicate a date range for a place name?

When I stop seeing “?” in the Place Title field in various different places of the GUI and those are no longer resolved by that date workaround, I will accept that premise.

Here is my setup for Woodstock Connecticut. I am showing how I change the actual place name and how it has multiple Enclosed by entries. A special note to make sure you edit the main name entry. [Woodstock Name] [Woodstock Enclosedby] The last entries with no date is my default option for an event with no date.

These are various results for the place name based upon the date. The same place record was use for each event.

(Gramps seems to use “0” for evaluating the Place rather than using today()

True. I always think of an event with no date as 1 Jan 1. Which is why I almost always include an alternative place name with no date and an enclosed by hierarchy place record with no date as a last catchall for these events.
